Pitching to favor a consideration

Image: Courtesy of Nick Gentry through d'Verse (here)

3WW given words:
electric passionate savage

Poetry Jam: Listen

Squared off listen up and listen well
All over the smoothness of features
Electric magic written all over the face
Pitching to favor a consideration

Listen and listening a virtue extended
But long discarded of no consequence
A favorable stance  not readily pursued
They prefer to expound their views
To savage others into submission

Wherefore the elements of free speech
Allowing opinions freely to flow
Why not listen and then talk
Both then grapple at ideas
Sustaining a long conversation
Passionate in its resolve!

  2. listening...one of the greatest gifts that we can give
all too often we are more concerned with what we will be saying
than what is being said to us....

    1. ... my thoughts exactly, Brian. Listening and thinking on what one's heard before responding is a real oddity in this world these days.

  5. Free speech and the freedom to listen to it is a great thing. Sad to think this is not the way everyone feels after the killings in Paris. Thanks for posting this.

  9. Hank! Faboo work with this image. I love the idea of contrasting the smooth with the edges of screens superimposed on the woman. Also, your final stanza reminds me of an old saying: "God gave us two ears and only one mouth for a reason." Indeed, there is no civil discourse without listening. Thanks for your words on my blog. Sorry I've been spotty of late posting, but computer problems are rife for some reason... Love, Amelita

  10. Well put, Hank. There can never be a coming together and resolution of conflict without listening. Sadly, that is a lesson humankind seems to have relearn over and over again.

  25. Freedom of speech is something that one should be careful with because there are both pros and cons to having it. Like in Spiderman, "With great power comes great responsibility."
