I keep trying to be a good mother

Keeping track of one baby is child-play

You had better rejoice in your good fortune

The most you have perhaps is a pair of twins

You think you have problems

I have 5 in the brood

When they were cute little chicks

they all look alike 

But look at me, I know them

from one to the other

Keeping track for me involves smell and 

sounds not physical attributes or colours

I can tell the call of distress from the

specific baby even when hidden behind a wall

Keeping track with motherly instinct 

is the same for humans or us chickens

but numbers even of a dozen 

is of no bother to us

A is for Abstract Art

Abstract art uses visual language. Instead of words, it falls back on shape, form

lines and colours It is fascinating as it employs all four media forms to create a 

a composition that attracts immediate attention. This is made possible as they appeal

directly to the senses

                               

One may not readily understand the logic of having the forms together. Looking at 

them as a composite it is apparent there is a sense of being and of togetherness. There 

is a reason to be there at that particular presentation. Abstraction will invariably indicate

a departure from reality 

Artwork altering colour and form in ways that are seen and conspicuous,can be said 

to be partially abstract. Total abstraction will not make it easy to relate the forms to 

anything easily recognised. On the other hand, realistic art can also be expected to be 

partially abstract as well.

Night Fishing

a Whopper, a long time ago! It brought 

back the memories

It was late afternoon. The heat of the day still beating down on us. The sea
was calm. The sky was clear in bluish hues with white clouds drifting leisurely by. 

It looked to be so inviting. The beach was filled with the shrieks and laughter
of the youngsters, stragglers from the crowd barely minutes ago. It would
be quiet shortly with dusk approaching.

We put out to sea in the middle of the night. The heavens above were full of twinkling 

stars. A slight sea breeze playfully rocked the boat a little. We shone the torch-lights 

into the crystal clear waters. That was one way to attract the squids to the surface 

which were scooped up as bait.

Light waves kept lapping the sides of the boat to a regular rhythm. It rocked 

us in time preventing us from having a shut-eye. The night was uneventful with 

just small bites. The regular rocking was a bother. It was frustrating and the night 

was long. The break of dawn was the clincher.Bites galore, what a whopper!

Night fishing was a test of patience
