Image: Uninviting Summer evening (here)
Evening lull but an
emptiness in the sky to
bring throes of longings
where you were but now
shadows of apparitions
dancing in the void
unsatiated
sudden and mysterious
you left unannounced
Chevrefeuille's Carpe Diem #1459- evening lull (yuunagi)
Today's summer kigo is evening lull (yuunagi)
yuunagi means evening peace, silent evening
Marian's at Real Toad's - unhappy refrain
Wow, what an interesting take on the evening lull.
ReplyDeleteHank, this is very lovely. I think it is my favourite of your poems.
ReplyDeleteNice poem, Hank. I know a lady whose boy friend during a family visit climbed out a window and never came back. No goodbyes or anything said. That is sad. Oh yes, he waited until the household was asleep and then he left. No evening lull for him.
ReplyDelete..
I agree with Sherry about this haiku series, Hank; I also think this is one of my favourites. I especially love:
ReplyDelete'emptiness in the sky to
bring throes of longings'
and
'shadows of apparitions
dancing in the void'.
Such a sad ending.
Love this especially "where you were but now shadows of apparitions dancing in the void." 💜
ReplyDeleteThe wistful longing in this is beautiful...
ReplyDeleteJust gone can sure lead to many questions.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be the nature of the being...longings, desires, always something else....
ReplyDeleteThis is really lovely, Hank. A sadly reflective poem.
ReplyDeleteThe longing in this really grabs me... beautiful
ReplyDeleteExcellent approach of "evening lull"
