My!
What a handle holding a candle
Way to learn when it burns
Having a spat still wondering at
The loath triggered by both
Among friends that’s where it ends

Ouch... I can feel that burn...
ReplyDeleteI can hear that last sizzle. Fantastic use of Millay's piece.
ReplyDeletefriendly spats - over quickly, hopefully
ReplyDeleteAlways a worthwhile and enjoyable visit here!
ReplyDeleteExcellent use of Millay's piece :D
ReplyDeleteWords well written and very wisely also.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
The burn can sure be felt haha
ReplyDeleteI hope the spat is truly over quickly. I kept imagining a friendship torched by a few angry words.
ReplyDeleteBurning words can singe the best of friendships. Some spats do end friendships...mostly over insignificant things too.
ReplyDeleteIt is sometimes hard to end a spat!
ReplyDeleteLove the point/counterpoint of the rhyme in this. Works well in this form.
ReplyDeleteYes, agree with Walt on how well the rhyme works here. Also, find it interesting that the last line could indicate the end of the spat... or the friendship... depending on how one reads into it.
ReplyDeleteYou're right PSC! Hank meant it to be the end of the spat. Among friends it is easier to forgive and forget. But you put a brilliant dimension into it where it can be the friendship that ends. Hank didn't think of it . Now that you've mentioned it, it can be seen that way too! Thanks a lot!
