Reflecting on life's blessings

Reflecting on life's blessings
Little nudges to the memories
Retracing paths trudged wondering
What otherwise could be the stories

A touch of gray on decisions taken
If she had managed to steal his heart
But he had rejected it oh, so brazen
Would they be better off for a start

Would riches pile high all their life
Shrieks of beautiful children heard
Instead of struggling to survive
Sadly childless amid cries of hurts

What then of the path not taken
And had lady luck smiled often?

For Grace's at d'Verse's OLN #173 and
Fireblossom's Friday at Real Toad's
- a touch of gray where even good
things can have a tinge of regret to them

  2. ah that tinge of regret.....
I like to change from grey to neon pink -- moving on into the spotlights so to speak! :)

  3. Intriguing poem, especially as I tried to link it with the picture, but I think it's just the 'touch of gray' I should focus on, right? I particularly like your clever rhymes and near-rhymes. The only thing that doesn't quite work for me is that this line:
Instead of having to struggle to survive
feels too long compared to the others, so it jars. Perhaps cut it down to 'instead of struggling to survive'?

  7. Yes, the path taken always leaves us wondering where the other one might have led. Well-expressed, Hank.

  8. Yes there is always that tinge of regret - all things must come to an end.
