Note: 1 For the A to Z Challenge 2015 Hank had highlighted his buddy Yusuf
Hashim themed as 'The Modern Day Explorer'.(here) (here) (here) Yusuf is still
at it! Yusuf will be in the Serengeti July 16 - 26 2016 to observe the wildebeest
migration and Greenland again from Aug 17-24 2016 to shoot the Aurora Borealis.
Note: 2 For the impending A to Z Challenge 2016, Hank's theme is 'ABC of Sports'
For the uncomplicated events Hank will try to spice it up with Hank's own sketches
or paintings instead of getting images only from Wikimedia Commons
MLMM's 12 given words:
struggle decide careless notify terminate
blatherskite (a person given to voluble, empty talk. nonsense; blather.)
ephemera (anything short-lived or ephemeral)
addictive (causing a strong need to regularly have or do something)
concave (having a shape like the inside of a bowl : curving inward)
rigor mortis (a temporary stiffness of the body that happens soon after death)
episodic (telling about many separate events)
nostrum (exaggerated claims and with no demonstrable value)
It is a struggle to decide
For the A to Z theme for 2016
Hoping not to be careless but
necessary to notify
One is not to be a nonsensical blatherskite
It is serious business
Outrightly ephemeral as it is
One can enjoy it only for 26 days
It puts urgency into the cause
An addictive for April 2016
But does it matter?
One need not be concave in attitude
Or rigor mortis in one’s creative process
It is just a matter of being episodic
of varied interests and episodes
Not anywhere nostrum in intentions
Hopefully to participate fully
And avoid possibility to terminate midway
Though one can still do so
Mindful though
If the resolve to continue
throughout is absent
where is the fun?

Very clever Hank!

And you're off to a great start! Big sports fan so I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Alex! Hope to have lots of fun!

Should be fun to watch you give sports a run. It can be daunting to some people to get to the end, but not us lol
ReplyDeleteSports is a great theme. Good luck in the challenge, Hank!! :)
ReplyDeleteSports is a fab theme. Loved the poetry! Have a great A-Z.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes.
Nilanjana.
You did well, Hank, with a seems-to-me very hard word list. I've seen the Auroras Borealis but not the Wildebeast migration except on TV.
ReplyDeleteTo some I am there Yusoff, have visited most of Europe, all 50 U.S. States and Puerto Rica, Carribean, Mediterranean, Black, Agean, and Baltic Seas' countries, Australia, NZ, China, Japan and several other places.
..
Oops, 'their' Yusoff ... Sorry. Me or Autocorrect?

"rigor mortis in one’s creative process"
ReplyDeleteThat cracked me up! What a great way to describe writer's block!
Addictive for April - I won't be successful this year in a poem a day - but when I did participate in years past - it did "take over".
ReplyDeleteMan, this is stressing me right the hell out. Hah! It's not a competition, is it? IS IT?!? April is almost here. I cannot wait to see your paintings and sketches here!
ReplyDeleteWrite like the wind, Hank! You can do it!
Thanks Marian! It is not but it is big! Check it out!

I wish you all the good luck possible Hank.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Good luck with your challenge, hope to see you in April :)
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Very nice Hank! I think everyone has this happen at one time or another. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I am up to an A-Z challenge.
ReplyDeleteI like how you used the Wordle list.
I did do an A-Z challenge one year with names:
here
But only when and if you have time to enjoy. :)
Good luck.
Good Luck with the Challenge ...

It is fun to have some structure. I am doing the A-Z again ...but unofficially and following my own theme. I hope to pop in on yours as my A-Z pieces this year are taking the place of my dailies. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll also make a page to unite them all ;)
