Sunday’s Whirligig 12 given words:
falls delicate grazing loneliness munching
tufts wet twilight ripples gladly break wrist
tufts wet twilight ripples gladly break wrist
3WW given words:
resolute fresh new
Comes a time when a beast
of burden falls from grace
Delicate in its rebuff
Grazing in loneliness
Munching turfs wet with tears
Instead of watery padi fields
Twilight industry that mellowed
Overtaken by developments
in housing, plantations and golf courses
Ripples until now but unashamedly
with a resolute at a much faster pace
Housing developers, entrepreneurs
and governments gladly break
away with fresh new ideas of modernization
Just a knock on the wrist
But a cultural shock on farmers
bent on tilling their lands
to maintain a dying industry
to feed hungry mouths
That's progress
Like it or not!

Yes - sometimes 'progress' seems like an absolute oxymoron...if only we looked at the things that endure time and didn't leave our mess on the landscape.sigh..happy new year to you Hank
ReplyDeleteYep, one step forward two steps back it seems is always the case.
ReplyDeleteBlessings......
ReplyDeleteEveryday you are able to move further than the day before is progress. It may seem little to the outsider however you the insider knows the reality of what was and thus what is, is progress.
very interesting. Enjoyed the photo.
Just browsing through blogspotville and thought I’d stop in to wish you a happy new year.
May you have more triumphs than trials
More joy than sorrow
More support than judgement
More Inspiration than discouragement
More resources and access than obstacles
and may you know through it all
That you are blessed and a blessing (by D.S.B.S.Rhapsody)

That's been the story of my life this past year, one step forward two steps back, Wonderful to read Hank as always.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Sustainable communities are a thing of the past as we must maintain and support money grubbing developers in all aspects of our lives. This affects the livelihoods of so many people.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, progress ... we've been playing at progress for such a very long time and as each civilization oversteps its bounds it falls and we start over again. Too bad we never seem to learn from our errors. But there's always hope that everyone will stop delegating their well-being to others and we might use the intelligence we've been endowed with to make life better on this planet for all ... let's hope. Have a great New Year Hank. Bastet
ReplyDeleteif only money makers started thinking about effect of unplanned development world would become a better place to live, nice inspiring post
