Sunday Whirl words:
crazy shadow childhood laughter stranger
secret diamond shines prisoner steel
“A good friend will always stab you in
the front” - Oscar Wilde
What crazy thoughts shadow crazy ideas
With childhood friends one shares laughter
Not a real stranger or someone unknown
But betrays one’s trust in a way blatant
Nothing secretive but a diamond that shines
Sharing what is mine is yours and yours mine
Not a prisoner restricted in all of his dealings
Of steel in character and warmth in feelings
But mindful of the wise words of Oscar Wilde
For friends create trust easily devoid of wiles
Then without warning one gets the full brunt
“A good friend will always stab you in the front”

Hate to see what a crappy friend will do. I guess that's why we say with friends like these, who needs enemies.

No one can wound you like a friend... very nice work, Hank
I think he is right...a true friend would certainly be up front.. Nice play on the prompt and the quote
ReplyDeletehaha well at least you can usually see it coming when they stab you in the front.
ReplyDeleteLove that Oscar Wilde quote. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWould definitely rather see it coming and I like how you incorporated his quote directly into your piece. Fits seamlessly.
ReplyDeleteA lovely poem Hank .. so suited for the MM prompt and a great use of the wordle ... but you've linked the MM prompt instead of your poem on Mr. Linky at Sunday Whirl ...
ReplyDeleteExcellent and I agree with CC I prefer the strait-forward delivery, I don't like head games and schemes. I really loved those closing lines!
ReplyDeleteA great response to that quote...a true friend will tell you like it is...even if it hurts.
