How lucky it was to have finally arrived
A long walk across the deep lake waters
Watched intensely by an elephant in the sky
Not given any quarters holding the diapers
But made good an escape from the moon
Thirst quenched drinking sands of the desert
Skipping over the sun in the still of the night
Observed crocodiles on the stage in a concert
Satisfied with all the snows on the pyramids
But made good an escape from the moon
Trailing behind the tortoise around the bend
A polar bear astride a camel under the sun’s heat
Lions turned vegetarian with gazelles as friends
Never a bother for pizza or any kind of meat
But made good an escape from the moon

Hopefully this fits the bill

ha. well it came out fun, so....the last bit on lions turning vegeterian, the world might just be upside down at that point...the moon might be the best place

ReplyDeleteLove those little snippets of wisdom coming together.. to quench thirst by drinking sand sounds painful... (and sad in a way).
ReplyDeletea fun read...though "Thirst quenched drinking sands of the desert" reminds me of some places where water is becoming a scarcity...nicely done Hank...

ReplyDeleteYour poem is packed with lots of fun images, Hank. I enjoyed reading it. I like the idea of vegetarian lions.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the different roles of the animals in your poem, Hank! Cubist indeed.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun in this from the singing crocodiles (or so i imagine) to the vegetarian lions. Love the polar bear riding the camel--global warming at its most extreme. Great stuff. Thank you.
