Ancient voices with
Lingering sita music
Sensuously flavored
Gyrating movements
Radiance of Kama Sutra
Rhapsodies of times
Tugged at one’s conscience
To let ancient brilliance
Subverted blindly
Written for Chev's haiku for CARPE DIEM #267: Ancient Voices
The aliens did it I say, but yes brilliant display
ReplyDeleteit has to be pretty awe inspiring to stand in the face of them...makes me feel all indiana jones...smiles.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous image, and Hank, you wove a small miracle with your poem, capturing the essence of the Kama Sutra without getting all smarmy or graphic. Most poets can only make fun; you understand its spiritual nature - and yes, sensuality is an important part of life, not to be denigrated. One of your BEST. Amelita
ReplyDeleteMy, Thank you so much Ma'am. It's culture at its most direct without any pretense of base judgement. Kama Sutra must be seen as a science of ancient times, so I thought! I was lucky to get an image that gives the big picture to put forth KS as a concept of life! Have a nice week-end Amelita!

ReplyDeleteThe ancient voice will reach out only to those who respect them and - would care to listen well.
ReplyDeleteThe ancient brilliance still shines!
ReplyDeleteWhen the Old One Speaks
Wonderful and inspiring... I really like the second stanza here. What a wonderful inspired piece.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know the Kama Sutra was literally etched in stone. It takes on a new meaning for me knowing that. Thank you for choosing to write your haiku on this topic...with great respect for the ancient ones.
ReplyDeleteI have read the Kama Sutra once and it's not only the sensual piece but also the spirituality which is deeply there. It's all about life and the Kama Sutra is really an Ancient Voice still speaking to us.
