Quenching its thirst
It's being through with running
a mean machine
in the past
but now tiredness is of right
a respite is mandatory
to rest awhile
survival is not an option
but a life and death thing
so as to be able
to walk the next day
it now walks alone
there was a pack
following at his rear
not anymore
it was long gone
a dominant leader emerged
and enticed them away
the human kind
who flew out the nest
they did it on their own accord
but they are still emotionally attached
for family attachment is sacred
of ties that bind
Carrie's at Sunday Muse #166
Family certainly is a tie that binds and is sacred. Always glad to see you at the Muse Hank!
ReplyDeleteFamily attachment is strong in wolves too. That is why it is devastating when one of them is killed. It affects the entire wolf pack. Good poem, Hank. I always love a poem with wolves in it.
ReplyDelete"survival is not an option / but a life and death thing" LOL, yep!
ReplyDeleteI feel lonely for him too. Wow!!! Luv where the prompt took you
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday
Much💛love
A mean machine....
ReplyDeleteI too found these lines powerful.
ReplyDeletesurvival is not an option
but a life and death thing
When we lose our 'pack' .... we lose our connection to life. Well done, Hank.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sherry on this and feel bad that the wolf and their pack have been separated :(
ReplyDeleteYes, the blessed sacred of attachment. I've found my tribe (pack) is one I've chosen.
