“The isolated Model T truck bears the weight and pride of a
hundred years of rust, becoming prairie art and sentinel.” - Glenn A. Buttkus
abandoned by love and planned obsolescence
as Shakespeare would have rightly acquiesced
tragedy of sorts the likeness of a sustenance
of Romeo and Juliet, renowned young lovers
oblivious of time ignored in many ways
of what outcome stuck on unpaved lanes
out in the open but had seen better days
wrought with sorrow and lots of pain!
cast a blind eye mocked with laughter
regretfully betrayed in a web of intrigues
a history of happenings akin to gunfire
enemies within unseen but well in league

Very well-written!
ReplyDeleteI love the form you've used here, a kind of condensed sonnet. It works very well to tell the sad tale of this truck!
ReplyDeleteI am going to imagine 'the better days' ... like mine in days of yore.
ReplyDeleteI once wrote a sonnet about an old tractor... the sadness of being left is a bit the same.
ReplyDeleteThis is incredibly potent! I resonate with; "cast a blind eye mocked with laughter regretfully betrayed in a web of intrigues
ReplyDeletea history of happenings akin to gunfire." Thank you so much for writing to the prompt 💝💝
I liked,"oblivious of time, ignored in many ways, of what outcome stuck on unpaved lanes." Sonnet-like and sad, this piece shines; thank-you./
ReplyDeleteWell-penned, kaykuala!
