Image: Bad intentions are mirrored
to unsuspecting victims (here)
Homophones: double take
acts – things done ax – chopping tool
complacent – self-satisfied
complaisant – willing to please
one often wonders
why scammers are successful
they are overly confident
they easily get their way
their Modus Operandi is time tested
their acts are simple and can be anticipated
but yet victims are there for the asking
the scammers mirror bad intentions
by extolling the good side
of the half-eaten apple
that appeals to the victim's greed
they hide behind the ease of the social media
and ax their victims to pieces
who ended up parting with their hard-earned money
easily and happily
for the victims are naive and complacent of attitude
and scammers are complaisant in endeavours

It's sad so many fall for the scammers.
ReplyDeleteSadly your words ring true! I like the powerful direction you went with the image Hank! Great and wise writing!!
ReplyDeleteSo true, your ending 2 lines summs up the attraction adequately
ReplyDeleteHAPPY SUNDAY. HAPPY NEW YEAR
much✨love
That mirroring of bad intentions just hits perfectly with the image
ReplyDeleteThe temptation of evil always lurks seeking new victims. sadly true...
ReplyDeleteHank, this is brilliant ... one of my favorite Kaykualas!
ReplyDeleteThe mirror of social media, pretty much don't like what I see of humanity there!
ReplyDeleteThat scammers concentrate on the more vulnerable senior citizens who are naive and trusting speaks for the greedy unprincipled people they are. Your poem is spot on!
ReplyDeleteGood poem Hank I too was a victim of a scammer/scammers a few years back on my Iphone. I just ignored the phone calls and emails and blocked the offending phone numbers.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
Yvonne.
Scammers are such a heartless, vicious, greedy breed.
ReplyDeleteI like the mirror effect in this, and the last two lines sum it all up perfectly.
