Image: Alone Resting and Waiting (here)
Morning sun blazing hot at midday
Even clouds running fast and hurried
Chased by the incoming evening rays
Destined to be buoyed leisurely
By a slow-moving flight belly full
Life undeniably knocked into inactivity
Not seen its worst heavy and brimful
Resigned to be resting the tired bones
Must you make an unscheduled stopover?
A messy cook up the previous occasion
Your friends too took refuge, remember?

Loved the verse Hank, I sit alone many a hour.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Solitude means soulful .... a Helen thing. Cheers, Hank.
ReplyDeleteVery beautifully written. :)
ReplyDeleteI think if we're 'not unduly worried' at the moment we are doing ok. For sure there are lessons to be learned from the birds! I love the lyrical flow of your lines here, Hank.
ReplyDeleteSome days, I wish I was less worried.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Hank. The photo is perfect! Looks like we are all just like that bird... Sitting alone at rest!
ReplyDeleteloved this poetry seems to take me to a place of rest after i have released it out into the wild from the prison of my mind.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have found a nice spot in the sun.
ReplyDeleteSitting alone not unduly worried --- I'm right with you in this first line. Ah....in this harried world of Covid worries, election schism and chaos...how wonderful that would be. And then to be visited by this feather flying friend in an unscheduled stopover. Delightful.
