reflecting on the last occasion
as I leaf through our life's recent past
much maligned but within reasons
it could have been our last
tackless but had since subsided
proddings at my ribs probing
anger had quietly decided
to match the last pleadings
we were now friends
but frustrations lingering
over the horizon
as yet to settle still sneering
love was a strange animal
riding a chequered path
to appease was glaringly dismal
but the right button could end in laughs
Frank at d'Verse's -
frustrations and heartbreaks
Can go many a different way depending on the two
ReplyDeleteThoroughly enjoyed the poem and picture Hank.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
I liked the description in the third stanza about those sneering frustrations lingering over the horizon like storm clouds that may not arrive. And the last line offering a potential that it could all end in laughs.
ReplyDeleteAptly describes the tenuous journey of many a romance!
ReplyDeleteA lot of give and take. But issues need to be resolved to keep it going.
ReplyDeleteFrustrations lingering over the horizon as yet to settle still sneering...
ReplyDeleteThe storm could go out to sea, or circle back around with greater force.
Ah, to be blessed with a sense of humor!
ReplyDeleteI love when it ends in laughter... that's the best way to go through frustrations.
ReplyDeleteYou've definitely captured the animal nature of romance. Love the image.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, you just need to find the right button. smiling..
