(alphabet sestet is a poem of 6 lines with
a 6 letter sequence in the alphabet, in this
case J-K-L-M-N-O and A-B-C-D-E-F)
Jet-setting happily across the globe
Knocking off the travel bug senseless
Letting it be known with such hopes
Mindful of the joys but breathless
Not to limit in terms of time and space
Of the likely motivation in strict confines
At the outset decide that it is not a race
But to be carefree and easy not to bind
Catching the sun in an ideal location
Detrimental only to those sedentary by nature
Effectively riding risks of a safari situation
Forced to carry guns as an element of adventure
Lillian at d'Verse's MTB - alphabet sestet
How exciting and what a powerful final line!
ReplyDeleteAh -- fun one to read. My dream has always been to get to Africa and to go on a safari, with all the travel I've done (been on every continent) - I've not done that yet. We hope to in 2020 or 2021! You've whet my appetite even more - except for the guns.
ReplyDeleteNice line: "At the outset decide that it is not a race"
ReplyDeleteOne should carry a camera, not a gun. Big game hunting is so archaic.Trump's sons still kill for sport.
ReplyDeleteSure could see much on safari and just enjoy the ride.
ReplyDeleteI love, "mindful of the joys, but breathless." Sounds like a true adventure.
ReplyDeleteI like being carefree but one has to be careful in those safari plans.
ReplyDeleteI would imagine there is a balance between relaxing into the experience and feeling safe. I really like the personification in this line..."Knocking off the travel bug senseless".
ReplyDeleteSafaris sound so adventurous. I had an uncle who used to lead them. Never got to meet him.
