One hears of dissidents being sent to Siberia as a punishment. But Tyumen apparently is beautiful and well placed as a commercial and industrial centre! Perhaps it was before but not anymore! Thanks Pakcik!
I'd never heard of Tyumen. I think I'm so well-read yet so ignorant of much of the world. Interesting read. Train journeys always seem so romantic and I can almost hear the violin.
