Cricket Pitch (here)
Looking out of the window
Wide expanse of this white sea
Smoothly blanketing the meadow
Had designs of a cross-country
But how he regretted it this day
If only he had been more careful
Jumping over the fence was child-play
But he didn't count on the handful
Of loose pebbles where he landed
Now his face all puffed and battered
For Kerry's Micro-poetry of not more than 10
lines on 'one this snow-flake' at Real Toads
"But he didn't count on the handful
ReplyDeleteOf loose pebbles where he landed"
I LOVE this.
Ouch. Oops :-(
ReplyDeleteEntirely lost in lament here, Hank. That's the way these things happen.
ReplyDeleteOn September, 2014' Mrs. Jim tripped her following foot climbing through a board fence. She fell onto a patch of asphalt and broke her hip. The repair was a hip joint replacement. Bummer.
..
Oops! One should take care in adverse conditions.
ReplyDeleteOuch..the dangers are everywhere... Climbing fences should be done with care.
ReplyDeleteThere certainly are dangers around Hank,
ReplyDeleteWonderfully portrayed in this poem.
Yvonne.
That hurt, I'm sure! You describe this so well that I could feel those pebbles!
ReplyDeleteHave to look before you leap sometimes. One little mishap can be fatal.
ReplyDeleteA little story here! Be careful! And in poetry! k.
ReplyDeleteThat ending was totally unexpected!
ReplyDeleteLook before you leap! Lighthearted and funny, Hank.
ReplyDeleteIt only takes a moment....well captured.
ReplyDeleteOuch! You never can tell what's under the snow.
ReplyDeleteIt may look soft and inviting but the hidden dangers lurk!
ReplyDelete... the white sea. It does appear to be like that sometimes.
