Peering up the sky
Scattered brown in copper tones
Mysterious nature
From heat of summer
Toned down feelings of Autumn
Defining moments
Nebulously lodged
Preceding cold of winter
Tolerable warmth
Man's life given strength
Somewhat the roaring forties
Man's life given strength
Somewhat the roaring forties
Peak of his prowess
Written for Poets United Think Tank Thursday #113 with prompt - signs of Autumn and Victoria's d'Verse - Meeting the Bar - symbolism
Hank, indeed the heat of summer is indeed toned down in autumn, Hank. The air has a different feeling now.
ReplyDeletenice...rather love autumn...the feel, the color....all about it...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this, Hank - the fall is my favorite season.....so beautiful, and not as hot as summer. A definite change in the air these evenings.......lovely poem, kiddo.
ReplyDeleteYeah the tolerable warmth is grand
ReplyDeleteUntil crappy winter comes to my land haha
I love all the colours of autumn but, don't ever want it to end to go into winter here... yuck! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice write Hank.
You've really brought the colors of autumn to life in this, Hank. Stunning photo and poem.
ReplyDeleteLove this Hank. I think every stanza could stand alone as a haiku.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen any sighns of autumn here. It's still so hot. I look forward to cool.
Oh how nice this would be... Autumn is not in our near future here in TX where temps are still in the upper 90s.
ReplyDeleteHank, I love the rhythm of this poem, and how you tied it back to humanity--those autumn years, very clever. You captured the feeling of things slowing down too--Well done!
ReplyDeleteI like the colors of autumn, copper tones and mysterious color ~
ReplyDeletenice...did i miss that last stanza earlier or did you add it...it plays well on the symbolism for sure...each age is to be appreciated...
ReplyDeleteOne of the best parts of fall. I love what you did with the prompt.
ReplyDeleteAutumn in words
ReplyDeleteDear All
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind comments. The Fall obviously has its special attraction to many of us. Logically it offers respite from the hot summer to be prepared and ready for the harsh winter.

ReplyDeleteYes, how observant! I had earlier written this for prompt of Poets United. However when Victoria suggested 'symbolism' for d'Verse I added an additional stanza to make it relevant. Thanks Brian, for your second visit.
Hank
A well coordinated set :-)
ReplyDeleteI love Autumn :)
ReplyDeleteSo you are saying Autumn is like a peak time? Quite true I think.
Very nice- ha! The roaring forties! Pretty grand. k.
ReplyDeleteI am very much looking forward to my forties, this was well adapted to the prompt and full of lovely phrases.
ReplyDeleteHank,
ReplyDeleteYour poem is very thematic in such a way, that you have painted a complete autumnal scene.
I love autumn, as it brings a homely warmth and a winter preparation.
Eileen
all the different seasons in life...smiling at the roaring fortys..each has its beauty and challenges...nicely penned sir
ReplyDeleteAutumn....gotta love it....def my fave...I really liked the line about the roaring forties and manhood? Just intriguing, something about maturity?....ageing like the seasons? I'm not 100%- but it just felt like such a good fit for this piece
ReplyDeleteHank, love the comparison of summer's fire with autumn's coolness, in nature and in human nature. Trust me, the best is yet to come! Lovely. Amy

I wonder if that is your sketch. I lijke your Brian's eyes and the ted chilli. I think it is nicer if the elo vera has a couple of drops dripping from the cut ends. Well done. There is no normal comment box for us to write!
ReplyDeleteI love how you combined the time in your life, with this season~
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful to read and gave me a sense of the beauty of now :D
Thanks Hank!
