“Nights and you
and Blue Hawaii
The night is heavenly
and you are heaven to me” - Elvis Presley
Wondering in the night
What were the chances we'd be sharing love
Before the night was through
Something in your eyes was so inviting
Something in your smile was so exciting
Something in my heart told me I must have you - Frank ‘old blue eyes’ Sinatra
To Each His Own
Different people, different things
Nights have been fascinating
Nights are half a day
Surely nights have a lot to offer
Great moments to savor
Young lovers holding hands
In anticipation of sensuous bliss
Old folks wishing on what they miss
The adventurous, the lively
The boy’s night out, the misled
Forever painting the town red
In Las Vegas, Atlantic City, the Reservations
Odd characters,the gamblers,the slicks
Hoping to strike it big!
The layabouts,skunks, thieves
Keeping a sharp lookout on the neighborhood
Of when to strike and rob
Or of plain folks like you and me
Nary a thought nor caring
Just peaceful slumber and tranquility
The choice for the night
Is what you make it to be!
Inspired by Thursday Think Tank #58 - Night time
Wonderful poems a real pleasure to read as usual.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week-end.
Yvonne.
Enjoyed both, but especially like this:
ReplyDelete"Young lovers holding hands

I enjoyed your view; yes it is what we make it~
ReplyDeleteAnd once it would have been witches, devils and hobgoblins. I think on balance, I'm glad I live now!
ReplyDeleteHank, love that closing stanza. Sorry it took so long to read and comment. Enjoy your weekend.
