Cornered
Driven to madness
Masked evil kept appearing
Grotesque, frightening
Cold, dark ,black and white
All that you can think of
It begs the question
Was it bad omen?
It kept happening but why
Must I be careful?
Startled in cold sweat
It muddled my flow of thoughts
I kept wondering
Must I be on guard?
Even though it was a dream
It foretells bad things!
Inspired by Willow's Magpie #74
I like this, sometimes my dreams are not very nice but I try to ignore them.
ReplyDeleteExcellently written.
Yvonne.
very dark and deep - great poem
ReplyDelete"...masked evil kept appearing..." A thought-provoking image.
ReplyDeleteDreams can be so mysterious... clever take on the prompt!
ReplyDeletei dunno...drams can certainly convey messages...just watch your back...smiles.
ReplyDeleteGreat dark take here! Dreams of such like masks would probably freak me out, too! Any bad dreams I have are usually worked out after analysis (and based on boring, everyday stuff!) and I'm left disappointed.
ReplyDeleteMysterious, dark... night worlds can be so overwhelming, yet, captivating.
ReplyDeleteMasks speak of darkness to me also, never mind the fun uses there may be for them.
ReplyDeleteInteresting take. In dreams we automatically know what a thing or person is, or know that we don't. If the dreamer knows it's an omen, it is. At least in the dream.
ReplyDeleteWell written piece. I don't know why it is that we see masks as frightening but we do, me included.
