the 12 given words:
saw arms small mind scar bar apart haul snarling sharp trunk
hearth (the floor of a fireplace, usually of stone, brick)
saw with arms outstretched but still without
dilemma for many in grave situations
where small inconveniences were often fraught
with added difficulties in the long run
snowman in mind and body meant to bring joy
a scar to wishful intentions much desired
devoid of movements was not a ploy
but a bar to effectively socialize as required
gregarious living in an urban environment
not apart from society but hauled aside
snarling neighbors added to the amusement
sharp contrast to the quiet of the countryside
place your trunk then next to the hearth
to experience the warmth of human gathering
beg your pardon you were all plainly just ice
sometimes frustrations stifled our yearnings

It seems somehow cruel to ask a snowman to park himself near the hearth--unless, of course, it was a malevolent snowman.
ReplyDeleteOy, the invitation to sit by the hearth makes me quiver.......but perhaps the human community will make it worth it.
ReplyDeleteA clever piece, replete with intriguing moral dilemmas.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a dilemma!
ReplyDeletePoor snowman! A real whirlwind write
ReplyDeleteSeems he hasn't long, poor snow man stuck parked there.
ReplyDeleteInteresting approach
ReplyDeleteAnd he melts by the fire, as is often true, a cozy fire melts almost everyone.
ReplyDeleteThis made me think that we all have some frozen aspects, especially in our thinking, that needs to sit by the hearth and melt. Good write.
ReplyDeleteA snowman invited to sit by the fire, no good can come from that. He would melt sadly when in time but that different. There is some paradox here that need much contemplation. This is not a read once poem

The penultimate stanza is so sad, for it goes so well with our current reality--neighbors baring their teeth at each other, going for each other's throats...
