Who did Wear Purple Socks?

Did he or didn’t he?
Did he wear purple socks?
Michael Jackson, did he?
Were there claims that he did?

No, he didn’t!
He wore silver sparkly socks!
Then who did?

The young may be forgiven
For having missed the fun
The older folks may not have forgotten
A big thing before, a big one
On stage it was a big flaunt
Yes, Donny Osmond!

Variously described as
"he's dreamy, and he wears purple socks!"

Note: Donny and Mary may not be jazz but they were jazzy just as much at their heyday.
Pardon me for putting a not quite jazz at d'Verse where Gay is hosting for jazz poetry

Written for Theme Thursday with prompt -  socks and shared with d'Verse with jazz poetry

  2. Ha, everyone has their trademark, I guess. I never realized either that Donny Osmond wore purple socks. Sparkly silver socks for Michael do not surprise me!

  5. I was sitting 'way up in the cheap seats at Radio City Music Hall when Donny and Marie Osmond presented the Emmy Awards to the producers and directors of Spielberg's hilarious animated cartoon Pinky and the Brain. One of the recipients was my young brother Rob, who kissed Marie on the cheek when she handed him his Emmy. I was too far away to see if Donny was still wearing purple socks in the year 2000.
Thanks for a walk down memory lane, Hank.

    1. Oh, that's wonderful Kay! You were in the thick of things way back then. Your younger brother won an Emmy! And even got to get a kiss! The young girls around must have been swooning over him, too, I bet! Donny must have been having them then too, I guess. I should think so! Great, just great, Ma'am!

  10. Purple socks are jazzier than me. Don't think I could handle that.

  11. Yep, yep, yep - I was there for PURPLE SOCKS and I still sort of think Donny Osmond is dreamy (I KNOW!)

  13. I think I remember him showing off his purple socks but really did not think much of it at the time. And he is still pretty popular because I think he won first place when he was on Dancing With the Stars. Plus he does dance pretty well. Lots of dancers are from Utah. It must be that Rocky Mountain High thing going on there.

Thanks so much for sharing this with us for Theme Thursday, it was a great trip down memory lane. I hope you have a great weekend and maybe you will find you have a pair of purple socks, I did.

    God bless.

  16. Your jazz poem has taken us to some unexpected questions Hank! And I hadn't thought about the Osmonds for years.
