Matter of the Mind

Some few things here
Mind is occupied with thoughts
Good thoughts, it's nice to be aware
It gets therapeutic of sorts

Many with such thoughts insist
Reading it as a healthy sign
Getting through with it is bliss
While still fresh in the mind

One is thinking of the might
And can be worried silly
But meeting it head-on is right
Half the battle is won easily

It has to do with the heart
It appears all right when relaxed
The mind has a way of being smart
To take it within its stride

  1. I love the sense of well being in this poem - the good thoughts, the heart relaxed, the mind taking all in stride. Great way to start off the week, Hank!

  2. Horses ARE ultimately fright & flight animals, but with herd dynamics they do figure out pecking order quite quickly... and have learned (usually) that backing down is OK if a superior leader is presented... something we humans should study, perhaps :)

  3. The mind sitting back and taking it in stride, too bad more humans don't go along for that ride

  4. "It has to do with the heart
It appears all right when relaxed
The mind has a way of being smart
To take it within its stride" yes Hank, when we remember to just be present we soften and wisdom arises from the heart!

  5. smiles...always so much on the mind...finding that peace is not easy....we have to monitor our thoughts though as they will def dictate the kind of day you are having...

  6. You're right, Hank. Thoughts can dictate our behavior even more than circumstances sometimes.
It's good to be reminded. Thanks.

  7. This reminds me of the pun, " It is a question of mind over matter, you don't mind I don't matter "....

  8. I enjoy the positive feel of your poem Hank!
"Mind is occupied with thoughts / Good thoughts, it's nice to be aware" - great lines. And when the thoughts are good, it is certainly wonderful to be aware.

  9. Hi Hank, lots to think about here.

"One is thinking of the might
    And can be worried silly"

But I had trouble with envisioning who or what "the (worrisome) might" might be. It slowed my over all thinking to a stop while I pondered about that.

    1. Was thinking of the might of the mind. One needs to face up with whatever threats there are, head-on and not to be unduly worried as the mind can overcome. Thanks Dr Jim!
