Humble beginnings
Jungle flower hidden right
among green foliage
Beauty seemingly
Creation of a classic
specimen of love
Love and affections
Aptly an epitome of
human perfection
It held its own strength
Given names of royalty
the rich and famous

ReplyDeleteThey do indeed ~ Such a challenge to grow them though ~
ReplyDeleteVery nice. My mother used to grow orchids but gave them up when she moved to a smaller place recently. It was a labor of love for her but they were so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOrchids are so gorgeous. Lovely poem Hank!
ReplyDeleteBooks of poetry could/should be written about their exotic allure.
ReplyDeleteOrchids remind me of exotic south east Asia....beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOrchids really are beautiful. I remember in high school you were extra special if your date bought you an orchid corsage.
ReplyDeleteI love orchids, epiphytes in general really and one variety gives us vanilla, a precious spice. This is a lovely ode to a gorgeous flower.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed beautiful...

ReplyDeleteah - isn't she a beauty.... and i love the unfolding process as well...from the humble beginning..nice
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for orchids and their amazing, wonderful, ridiculous beauty. We have an epiphytic orchid that's in flower for the third time ... it's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOrchid's color, shape and delicacy - often a symbol of femininity - not as blooming as a rose, not as short a life span either. You beautifully make the case for its sensuousness as well as sensuality. Well done.
ReplyDelete"Cow's foot orchid" isn't very glamorous, but "Crib of Venus" is nice. Orchids have a fascinating history...
ReplyDeleteOrchid's are wonderful flowers. Strong yet fragile... very good...
ReplyDeleteLovely! Just lovely.
