barter trade train ride?
home grown produce for tickets?
village riders' fun
tossing and turning
in broad daylight while sitting
the train ride of old
now fast and smooth no
more open but in cool coach
and great sights flash past

I think it would be fun to travel by train. Always wanted to take a train ride across Canada.
ReplyDeleteIs there actually a place to barter and ride? I'd give poetry ...
ReplyDeletebut I siuppose with the new comfort, the barter is gone.
I think perhaps those days are gone, we are too greedy and selfish now. However how pleased the station and train staff would be to be able to feed their families from payment in kind if their wages were low.
ReplyDeleteHaven't been on a train for a few years Hank, brings back pleasant memories. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Sure a slower approach, but plenty of sights to see.
ReplyDeleteJust love train rides...
ReplyDeleteOh, if only train tickets came so cheap: just a basket of produce!
ReplyDeleteHow times have changed. Speed. Vision and price.
ReplyDeleteNice haiku sequence Hank
Much🌼love
Am thinking.....How would the world be today if we still followed the barter system for transacting? Lovely...
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to travel by train. But these days, they have made it too expensive - then wonder why no one is riding!
