Bewitching
Naughtily playful
Straining
wanting more
A pair that always looks good
Conveniently placed
In front
looking ahead
Not at the back of the head
Not Cyclops like either
but two dainty eyes
-
doe-like
-
glassy
-
misty
-
hazy
-
squinting
- dreamy
- colored
- almond shaped
- slanting
- blinking
- closed
- dreamy
- colored
- almond shaped
- slanting
- blinking
- closed
Though sometimes
sharp as spears
piercing
and can kill
But greatness
of Providence
for all those
a dual function
Eyes to see
Eyes for emotions
-
Sadness
-
Excitement
-
Laughter
-
Surprises
-
Happiness
All bringing tears
But nothing beats
The come hither look
Bane to many
young hearts
And the stronger sex
who
pathetically succumbed
with just
one look

They can say a lot
ReplyDeleteso much said by the eyes...and so much to see in the eyes as well...ha...one weakness i am not sad to be humbled by...the eyes, they have it...smiles.
ReplyDeleteEyes are there, they can see or they cannot. No cyclops ones though? Old one eye may not like that you know lol
ReplyDeleteEyes can silence and even kill with one look, smiles ~
ReplyDeleteMmm, nothing does beat that come-hither look.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I really like this one! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's all it took!

glad you chose the eyes for your ode... one of the most fascinating things of the body... how they work, what they can express...beautiful
ReplyDeleteNice, but I wonder how a blind person feels... their extra senses are their eyes, and they still can be express emotion..and cry..even sparkle...I would not be able to do without my vision I don't think..
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tribute to those precious orbs. And the end is superb
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the eyes have it; they are so expressive and - for thsoe of us blessed with sight - so vital to our lives. Nicely penned, Hank.
ReplyDeleteThe stronger sex? ...methinks not dear Hank....otherwise they would not succumb:)
ReplyDeleteGot it! You know some so personally that you live to tell the tale. Splendid, Hank.
ReplyDeleteSo true. The window to the soul can also be the 'evil' eye.
ReplyDeleteEyes are wondrous for sure. Lovely ode. Remember the "Big Eyes" paintings of Margaret Keane? I hear they are making a movie about her.
ReplyDeleteI feel that you know and love these eyes very well indeed.
ReplyDeleteEyes behold the beauty and pain in the world..a wonderful ode..may we always
ReplyDeletesee with clear vision...
I particularly like the lists, incorporated in such a way that they become poetry.
