Volcano erupts
Spectacle that man observes
Nature playing tricks
Brilliant colors, a
Show of power and strength but
Hides an ugly side
Krakatoa, Mount
Etna, Pinatubo
brought
Untold destruction
Reminder of ills
That need to be corrected
For mankind had erred

Do you think these eruptions are karmic - payback for man's errors?
ReplyDeleteThere were opinions and contentions. Though how far it's true cannot really be determined. A matter of conjecture at best! But societies were known to pray for salvation even during an eclipse which are not known to be destructive!
DeleteHank
Nature could be trying to tell us something, with its wonderous yet deadly sight.
ReplyDeleteWe are at nature's mercy, yet we play with it like fools ... it's time mankind realizes its mistakes and takes steps to rectify them !!!
ReplyDeletei wonder then if this is nature telling us of our errs...volcanos have awesome power that if we dont heed def costs lives....
ReplyDeleteYes I am thinking along these lines.
DeleteWhat a brilliant description of the volcanoes force.
ReplyDeleteMankind has indeed erred
ReplyDeleteInitial points well made, but a bit of a jump to that of the final stanza, I thought -- or it could just be that I haven't woken up yet! Whatever, an impressive write.
ReplyDeletehave never seen a volcano eruption in real life but i can imagine how unbelievable strong energy this is..
ReplyDeleteInteresting to take a lesson from a volcano...that man has erred. I like that interpretation and the way you expressed it.
ReplyDeleteI like the last stanza, Hank, it says a lot. Hope all is well with you and yours.
