Image: Scanning the Night Sky (here)
The distance makes it hard to tell
The universe is vast and free,
All of its wonders are hard to see
A telescope needed to train on a distant star,
And ponder all that may have been.
The orbiting planets in their orderly hurtles
To marvel at the cosmic spectacle
To turn the gaze back down again to reality
With a glimpse of what's on the ground
A satisfaction at all the sights up high,
A satisfaction at all the sights up high,
When telescoping the fascinating night sky.

Lovely poem.
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical and fascinating night sky it is.
ReplyDeleteSuch a magical place to explore, even from a distance.
ReplyDeleteHank, we selected the same photo. A bit of synchronicity tonight. Sometimes, beauty is right before us with the naked eye. ~ Truedessa
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful Hank. Your words, like the photo, conjoin the vastness of space with the immediacy of earth, with excellent impact. Enjoyed this my friend… ✌🏼
ReplyDeleteHank, you captured the tone and atmosphere of the image, even in your opening line and the final couplet alone!
ReplyDeleteThat melded the vastness of space with the beauty right here
ReplyDeleteThat’s what it’s all about.
ReplyDeleteMagical Hank 😊
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteHank, you make me wish I had a powerful telescope. Mine is a cardboard tube with a lens and an eye piece. I bought it when I was an early teen from an ad in Popular Mechanics Illustrated, out of Chicago.
ReplyDeleteYou telescoped the magical sky beautifuly, Hank!
