Image: A Tunnel (here)
On reflection she asked herself for answers
Why was she alone now eyes transfixed yonder
They used to relate their trivia with soft whispers
Holding hands together many times before
She searched her conscience calmly engrossed
He left without a decent word to allay her fears
Just another gullible victim beginning to be obvious
Believing his words which now seemed spurious
The skies had never been this dark she did recall
Light at the end of the tunnel amidst sincere yearnings
She should not appear slovenly and unkempt at all
Frustrating but lesson learned on human failings

Light at the end of the tunnel in broken relationships....sometimes hard to find. Maybe the light is only reflections.
ReplyDelete"Light at the end of the tunnel amidst sincere yearnings."
ReplyDeleteHuman failings can leave us in a pretty dark tunnel... but the light at the end of the tunnel promises hope for the future! Well done, Hank!
ReplyDeleteThat tunnel can be dark but, one has to focus on light.
ReplyDeleteOh those rude awakenings! At least she saw the light. Nicely done Hank ☺️
ReplyDeleteAt least when it's dark enough you can actually see even the faintest of lights.
ReplyDeleteWe sometimes have "tunnel vision" when it comes to love. Follow the light!
ReplyDeleteHuman failings are great teachers.
ReplyDeleteI hope the light is from a different lantern new to her.
ReplyDeleteClever poem for the theme, Hank.
