For these Boots are Made for Walking

Is there a necessity to laze around?
Staring at a blank wall with nothing
Inspiration out of reach none are found
Excepting perhaps for lively songs to sing
One is blessed certainly for bigger things
There are reasons aplenty for existing
Need not create excuses just musings
For these Boots are Made for Walking
Get off the butt and make oneself lighter
Do your own thing and feel dead happy
Remember a blessed soul is a fighter
Nothing owed anyone but glad to be free

Have to get off one's butt indeed if you want things to take seed
ReplyDeleteWell said. Get up and make something happen in your life.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing at the "get off your butt" line. I certainly need to do that! Thanks, Hank, for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteI remember singing that song with gusto when I was young. Have walked many miles since then. I enjoyed this, Hank.
ReplyDeleteTrue, no point in sitting and doing nothing. Better to keep moving and do great things. Indeed, "these Boots are Made for Walking"
ReplyDeleteOh yes... get moving... without that nothing will change.
ReplyDeleteWalking is definitely a good thing. Always good to move rather than sit.
ReplyDeleteYour final lines say it all....soulful!

ReplyDeleteMy boots don't do much walking any more, but I well remember the joy of long walks in the woods!
I smiled at "Get off the butt and make oneself lighter".. Excellent write.

This is very wise advice. Let's get walking!
ReplyDeleteFun poem, I love this line "Get off the butt and make oneself lighter", oh and this one, "There are reasons aplenty for existing". It's a poem that makes you feel like getting up and dancing.
ReplyDeleteAh, that was a great song! And your poem is full of the same lively defiance and humour.
