These are snapshots at Scoresby Sound, Ostgronland,
Greenland. This is one of the beautiful locations rarely
seen by the outside world where Yusuf and his buddies
were holed up in the course of their Photo Safari
expedition to Greenland and Iceland
Frenzy of conflicts
Troubled world on the outside
but soothing Greenland
Colorful but still
happy to be bathed in shades
close to black and white
Yacht in the distance
Intrudes but undaunted in
peaceful cool flourish

Poetics: Black and White
The formations of the ice and the angles created in their faces is really cool. Would be neat to be somewhere as well that you knew most people would never get to see.
ReplyDeleteIncredible photography and good ekphrasis on the subject. Gray as a hue of both black and white--such a strong art concept and metaphor.
ReplyDeleteIncredible place.. put it right into the travel bucket list!
ReplyDeleteTerrific photography choices, & fit-as-a-fiddle trio of haiku; nice way to work the B&W prompt. Writing haiku seems to be like second nature to you these days; so cool.
ReplyDeletethese pics are gorgeous...they take my mind to a faraway land. Really magical Hank..
ReplyDeletejust lovely! Thanks for sharing your stunning photos.
ReplyDeletewhat a beauty - and it just oozes peacefulness
ReplyDeleteI think winter is a world of black and white - and those places where summer is brief you enter a world lacking color.
ReplyDeleteStunning photos well-paired with words.
ReplyDeleteblack and white, but it is cool how they pick up the subtle colours
ReplyDeleteWow, stunning pictures ~ To be there, so close to nature, one can forget the troubled world on the outside ~
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up Hank and wishing you Happy Week ~
Wonderful pictures. Yusuf really gets to unknown spots of the world. One never hears much of Greenland at all.
ReplyDeletebeautiful pics, beautiful words!..
ReplyDeletePareng Hank, thank you for the birthday greeting!..
"Frenzy of conflicts"
ReplyDelete"bathed in shades"
"the distance
Intrudes but undaunted in
peaceful cool flourish"
I love these phrases ... together, they almost make up another little poem. :)
The yacht really stands out, awesome shots indeed
ReplyDeleteShades of grey...and cool blue! Thanks for sharing the stunning photos and peaceful poetics.
ReplyDeleteAh.. yes.. escaping to
ReplyDeleteNature's graces.. unscathing
human culture.. snow and
ice fresh air breeze.. in
places
mostly
Nature
dares
tread Allone..:)
Hank, those were bizarre ice formations & way beyond cool to watch. What more if they're live before my very eyes. Fantastic! and thanks for the poem.
ReplyDeleteYou make it sound so peaceful, but it still looks too cold for me. :) Peace, Linda
