liberated muddy vicious
Liberated souls muddy in thoughts
Imposing their will on the majority
Being open being frank is being touted
As being broad-minded in all modesty
Being nude and baring one’s assets
For the whole world to have a peek
Is not the idea of all those seen naked
Vicious rumors should deter the meek
Where have all the good guys gone
Chic lovelies are nowhere to be seen
Have they in haste made quick alliances
always differences of opinion when it comes to freedom
ReplyDeleteand freedom for one often means less for another...
It can certainly be a zero-sum game if they are not careful. So much to reveal and the audience is small.

Free to have an opinion unless it differs from theirs...
ReplyDeleteCooler to be Hank than frank, right?
That's the irony of it. Shouts of openness but putting brakes on what others scale as inputs.

There is a difference between freedom of speech and imposing a view...I'm absolutely for the first...the latter should be our choice! Thoughtful piece Hank
ReplyDeleteHave to have it their way or the highway, freedom is soooo great, only if you do it my way that is, pffft
ReplyDeletewell itts impossible to have same opinion amongst so many people... but its the imposition of a single mans opinion that makes it quite unbearable!
ReplyDelete'Imposing their will on the majority' That seems to happen a lot. There should be choice in your will.
ReplyDeletePeople need to be more open to other opinions
ReplyDeleteHate for some reason is engendered by difference. Human and humane used to mean tolerance, understanding and acceptance of our variations. Sadly there seems much to gained from hate and intolerance rather that the opposite. Mankind is a cruel animal.
ReplyDeleteVery brave of you to broach this topic which is a mine field. When a minority group attempts to impose their value system which differs from the ethics held by a majority group there will be a problem. Answer: Change society by indoctrination of secular liberal values and cultural marxism by enforcing political correctness through legislation!
ReplyDeleteI respect your views. I will defend your right to hold them . I however reserve the right never to accept them as my own if they are contra to my personal belief system. This is now non pc and the reason we have no real freedom. We are all indoctrinated to be politically correct which means we are bound to echo current societal mores which may not be our own. Getting the balance right is the hard thing. No one wants the oppression of fundamentalism. Thanks for raising an interesting topic.
My take is everyone has a right to his own inclination. But no one should try to determine what others should adopt or adhere to.There may be minority groups who think they are progressive by aligning themselves to new ideas propounded by those with a new agenda. They are being selfish in trying to win over adherents by questionable means which I don't subscribe to. However I wonder if legislation can be an effective answer. It can be an option though. My contention is to just consider it a fad which eventually exhausts its energy and dies off! Otherwise present laws suffice to ascertain and ensure the sanctity of civil liberties.

Every one has his/her own views on freedom but as you mentioned those should not be imposed.
ReplyDeleteOne man's freedom is another man's cell. Or, worse, his TV remote control.
ReplyDeleteHank,
ReplyDeleteI sense that the rules about acceptability have been widened and foisted upon our screens, as options for viewing. It does seem that taste has changed and become a more 'normal,' manner of being expected to accept, or be considered a kill-joy..The remote control is a wonderful weapon, at least in the domestic arena!!
