longing rift rickety stutter sustain cliff

Absence did make the heart grow fonder
Baffled him to think that it was ever so true
She had been long gone over the yonder
Considerate though carted nothing of value

No bones to pick but it was a sudden flight
No language to describe the frustrations
Longings taking its toll and not that slight
A little rift and it triggered off a separation

With only a rickety jalopy to move around
Stuttered all the way along the rough terrain
Wishing to sustain love nurtured for so long
He had wished she had exercised restraints

Waiting alone with just a candle for company
Illuminating the night with images he remembered

How to react to rekindled love unrequited

Just ten minutes into the meeting
Walks in the habitual late-comer
Sporting a sheepish smile
He walks to the nearest vacant seat
All the while flashing that peculiar grin
Familiar with the scenario?

A compact car weaves in and out
Others had to avoid the speeding fiend
One meets it again at the traffic lights
Revving the engine incessantly
That is if he had not beaten the red earlier
Familiar with the scenario?

The one who puts his hand in the till
Or the opportunist given half a chance
Will swipe an unattended item
School bully pushing his weight around
Familiar with the scenario?

Yes, they exhibit adverse RPB
Recurrent Pattern of Behaviour

But if not pulled up in the formative years

Life left doubts in his mind
Mood swings dashed his hopes
Desperately he tried to fight
He stood firm on his legs but
fiery strokes kept crashing on him
With stern frayed hands clasped
he thwarted the sturdy flows that
mushroomed low below his ears

He found a way out of the asylum
through dust laden wings out of the alley
He was used to the luxury but his nose
chilled in crisp air that rang out loud

Akin to a fishnet that froze white
in water he was proud to claim miles
of great happenings

Mirrored in drapes of paper
hung over the fence he lamented

Salt soap bread had all gone up
His turn to face up through glassy
eyes found him looking lost

A home-coming of sorts

                                                                                                         Author :  NASA
Image: Astronaut John Glenn Entering his Mercury
capsule aboard the Mercury- Atlas rocket (here)

Note: On February 20, 1962 Glenn lifted off into space aboard his Mercury Atlas 6 (MA-6) rocket and became the first American to orbit the Earth. After orbiting the Earth 3 times, Friendship 7 landed in the Atlantic Ocean 4 hours, 55 minutes and 23 seconds later, just East of Grand Turk Island in the Bahamas. Glenn and his capsule were recovered by the Navy Destroyer Noa, 21 minutes after splashdown. -  Wiki

Why mankind chose to go
‘It is not easy ,it is hard’ he said so
JFK voiced it loud and clear
He capped it up with a tall order
‘Before the end of the decade
We’ll have a man in space’ he said

Lots of reservations lots of questions
Safety factors and health considerations
A target was set
It was met
but just!

Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961
Was the first man to orbit in space, a Russian
The US came later with a sub-orbital
When Alan Shepard was launched for just a while
But who showed the world the following year
To orbit the Earth beyond doubt
It was John Glenn’s victorious entry
Space exploration sparked a reality

What with  the extent of cooperation
Mega Labs and Space Stations
Were shared among the ‘spacemen’
With a mission
One big step forward for mankind
When Neil and Buzz stepped on the moon

Sending astronauts up was less of a burden
Mach 2 landing caused some consternation
Capsules landing in ocean’s waters
Was the alternative for the better
Better yet on April 12, 1981
NASA launched its Space Shuttle program
Smooth landing was then a breeze
In between there were some tragedies

The honeymoon came to an end in 2011
when the space Shuttle was retired
The current Administration
made it a home-coming of sorts
Placing the program to the back burner slot

All is not lost though
as there are entrepreneurs
Offering space tourism as an option
For those with extra cash to throw around

all fall into place

But the confusion and conflicts below
are as hellish as expected to be
Throw in the carnage and destruction

Contempt of decomposing leaves on the jungle floor
Refusing to be intimidated by all the rain-water

Emaciated a thin nut-cracker emerged hungrily
From its dwelling a holed up tree trunk’s sanctuary
Unscathed of hibernation’s long period of inactivity
Of dearth of nuts in its larder muttering incessantly

Guarded restraint mindful of monsters scouring
Starless nights lately were a damper to hunting
Fresh nutcracker just emerged a gourmet offering
Free of fleas walled up for months a meal in a blink

The will to stay on alive
Determination to survive
Extending the progeny
Non-extinct is obligatory

An axe's natural swing!

                                                                               Artist: Ferdinand Hodler
Image: Heave! (here)

Axe’s natural swing
Golf club’s downward arc can split
the fairway even

Tasty feel discerned
Familiar taste of Mom’s food
Firewood driven

Note:
1. A Pro once remarked a golf swing
was as easy as swinging an axe
2. Some mothers swore firewood
contributed to good taste of food

Success is bliss!

last signal appetite bliss irritation disclose
flamboyant jumbled point sun tire sound

It is now in the grips of a glorious end
The last few events are on track
Still it signals not a tapering off of
the appetite for the elusive gold
for they plod on

Success is bliss and the feeling is great
The irritation of securing a lesser silver
bronze or not at all do affect the
flamboyant who are used to winning
in their home country

They do not disclose their despair
nor disappointments jumbled though
their minds but point taken for it should
spur them on to compete at other times

They are to strive on anywhere under
the sun with friendly folks in competition
They are not to tire but to keep a sound
mind bent on winning

So be it for the sporting spirit!

A pair of dancing feet - An MF

A pair of dancing feet
Creating a reputation

Fable in the making
Need not be perfect
slender and neat but
rather one so lively
and quick

sweetness of love

Note: Hank just can't help relate
sweetness to love in simple terms

Turns sixteen a whole
world opens up to joys of
love and affections

Giving opens door
to getting more when coupled
with sweetness of love

Care to be simple
Takes so little to make him
happy, that is love

Note:  Hank's loving wife Shadah (planned together
with daughter Adura and son Hafidz) got Hank whisked
off for a wonderful Mogul fare at The Curve. Today
Aug 1st  is Hank's birthday (Hank modest with his
age though)
