Image: In a Flash as it is! (here)
A flash and brightness
but a fleeting moment as
life often teases
A flash and brightness
conjures pretty pattern if
only it sustains
A flash and brightness
often with deafening roar
somewhat repugnant
For Chev's CARPE DIEM #512 Shiki (2) - Flash of Lightning
The second and third haiku is so contrasting in its feel... I love the feel of second one... Really loved it...
ReplyDeleteah it is gone before we know it
ReplyDeletebut what brilliance there in the second eh? lightning
makes some cool sky art.
I don't think most of us get to see patterns like that.
ReplyDeleteA flash that can bring life and take it away, with one strike and your out
ReplyDeleteLove your picture Hank (it inspired me to write a haiku ). Swift and destructive in a flash.Nice work !
ReplyDeleteoh wow!! We live on the Atlantic ocean and see plenty of electric storms. I love sitting out on the porch to watch them. Great capture in words and image.
ReplyDeleteYes, we have had enough flashing for a while here. Time for the flashes to move elsewhere. An enjoyable read.
ReplyDeletei like the progression of your verses from the tease to the pretty to the repugnant. very nice haikū, indeed!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I did a thunderstorm poem as well, but it was taken from a different prompt! I even saw that image you used to such great effect at the Wikimedia page. The haiku are beautiful, and you acknowledge that thunderstorms are not everyone's fancy. Quite true. Thanks for visiting Rollie's funeral, btw, ha ha. Amelita
ReplyDeleteGreat stream of consciousness style in this series of haiku.
ReplyDeleteLightning as a tease--what a flirtatious way to look at it!
ReplyDeleteLightning Haiga
