the month of October

the month of October is there
to usher in the impending
winter months blanketing
the earth’s surface with
Heaven’s goodness of brown
colours of maple leaves
among others and  the coolness
of the Autumn breeze that
sustains romances and dreams

  1. People usually associate spring with romance, but autumn does have a lovely sense of romance to it too!

  2. October may wish to announce winter's proximity, but in this topsy-turvy world of today, global warming is giving it a thermal overcoat in places where cold remains only a distant dream!

  3. I love one-sentence poems! Autumn is my favourite season (although in this part of the world it happens at the other end of the year) so I enjoyed both your poem and the picture.

  6. Yes, Hank October is here , we here are still getting summer weather. Hope all is well healthwise and weatherwise where you are.
October is not a happy month for me as my youngest son passed away nine days after his birthday five years ago, but am trying to come to terms. Take care.

  8. I love the idea of autumn singing of romance and dreams. It makes complete sense. At this time, we slowdown, our eyes are seduced by all the colors and spices... The best time of the year.

  9. ..."Heavens goodness of brown..." made me laugh as that isn't usually associated with praise. Brown. But I do like the color (actually am wearing it now! :).
