it rekindled memories

Image: He Somehow looks Familiar (here)

the 12 given words:
sparks spontaneous sky far magic rising
ring rekindled legendary dress heats future

sparks could fly
it was spontaneous
it was not something
that dropped from the sky
far from it
but rather like magic
rising from the realms
of imagination
with a ring of mystery
around it

it rekindled memories
of the legendary
"dressed for the kill" adage
for clothes maketh the man

it rode the heats
on the silver screens
of the exploits
of future superheroes

who was he?
if it was not Bond!

Note: for clothes maketh the man
- people are judged according to the way they are dressed.

Ideas streaming into my head

But net, net I still have the ideas. They can be
put to good use given the lockdown. Blessed

has everything to do with the driver

two sets of homophones all to be
used in poetry or prose.
horse – animal
hoarse – lack of voice
and
stationery – pen, paper, envelope etc.
stationary – still, unmoving

curious and hoarse with wonder
seeing the lorry remaining
stationary parked in front
of the stationery store unmoving
and idle not unlike a horse
tied to a post waiting
to be ridden off

but what can be the bother
for how stubborn a donkey is
it can still be lured to move
with a carrot dangling
in front of its nose

it has everything to do with
the driver for to look after him
well is to motivate him to do
wonders in the job beyond
one's expectations

however, if any dissatisfaction
is imposed or is felt by him then
whatever persuasion or motivation
that comes his way will not impact
as much on him

it is human nature to accord
respect in cognizance of good
work that the response will be
reciprocated more than asked for
which invariably will be mutually
beneficial to both parties

it is common to find fragrances
of perfume permeating the air

rooting for the source may not be necessary
but to follow the aromatic lead trusting the

to persist is to acknowledge

Images in the Sky - An Adventure with Ms Zora Hurston

                                                                                                   Author: Neenekraj
Image1:  The Original Photo Challenge image (here)

Image2: A cropped-up part portion likened to an Alligator's head

Image3: A cropped-up part portion likened to a menacing wolf

Image4: A cropped-up part portion likened to a lizard's head

Interestingly, it is much fun to look up to the sky and to discover unending images as much as the imagination allows. With a casual sweep fast and unthinking a plethora of sub-images is discerned. It would be much clearer when cropped to the likeness of an animal or of a weird creature of sorts.

Missed opportunities are aplenty as to how often one looks up to Heaven's expanse except perhaps when extending both hands asking for forgiveness.

Image2 and image4 can be combined to show an angry 'mother alligator' in a protective mood with having its 'baby alligator' swimming in front in an artistic stance facing the opposite direction to its 'mother'

Very much like Zora Hurston looking for ways where she could make herself heard that -  No, I do not weep at the world – I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife.
(144 words)

Process Note: What does Zora Hurston mean by "I am too busy sharpening my oyster knife"?
The quote comes from the personal essay "How It Feels to be Colored Me." in World Tomorrow (1928)

Hurston makes the comment in the context of other writers' attitudes toward their blackness at the time in which the essay was written—1928. Hurston says that she does not "weep at the world" because she is "too busy sharpening her oyster knife." -  Wiki

“the world is your oyster” means that you can achieve anything you wish in life or go anywhere because you have the opportunity or ability to do so.

a young maiden
dreaming in the heat
of  late afternoon
clinging against hope
clasping for strength
her beauty only for him
yearnings lost in time
up against gathering storms
building up
bidding for a good omen

a sign of awakening
an offering nonetheless

she with bated breath
looking up to Heaven's norms
seeking  into the distance
faithfully prying

waiting with listless quiet
anticipating

rise and come back to me!

Where the game is still the same

in the Neighbourhood (here)

the 11 of 12 given words:
sound violins, frets protest, broken keeping
bridge, strings, ruins, belly, brittle,

Gone were the days
Of fun and laughter
Of sounds of good music
Of melodious violins

Gone were the feelings
Of wanting to be an adult
Of frets tumbles and trauma
To protest and do adult things
And get rewarded

Gone were the backyard
That witnessed broken bones
Of tears of childhood experience
And the triumph of keeping
Boyhood strength that bridged
hidden talents

Gone were the neighborhood
Whose kids have grown
And flew to new nests
Some with no strings attached

Gone were the houses
Close to your heart
Now in ruins
To make way for developers
To enrich their belly
But we still witness
The antics of those vying
For higher office where
brittle rivalries were rampant

Gone were the players of old
Replaced by new ones
Where the game is still the same
Only the players have changed

What did he do wrong!

Image: Always Greener at the Neighbour's  (here)

Envy ran wildly through his system
Felt the despair turned in his belly
When he spied the green luscious plants
All in a row in an orderly fashion
but sadly 'on the other side'
where the grass was greener literally

What did he do wrong that they did right
It was akin to stalking a beautiful lady
Surreptitiously on the sly
Not knowing how she would react
When the moment came upon discovering
that there was an admirer following her tracks

It crossed his mind on how to correct the malady
If only he knew how as he kept eyeing the wonders
of succulent tomatoes, cabbages, and red chillies
to no end. It was a long ride to getting green fingers

in a polluted environment

such is the new normal

making a bee-line to victory

time is without restrains nor hate
what is allowed ought to be utilised
make no bones about it
to be awake and to realise

an unseen enemy for all to see
not subdued through conventional means
to feel to hear in all reality

standing guard in the early morning mist
serenely floating in calm waters
to fill my memory's desire with ease

the little flap across the window's view
accentuates the desire to spy out more
with progress on the promise made anew
the whines and laments spun off-colour

nothing at all encouraging impacting hard
when the wrist takes the brunt of the pressure
not to unduly get all confused and worked up
best to let the flow take its course at leisure
