I know you were smiling!

Image: Imagination Ran Wild (here)

Missing you much with feelings of despair
Imagined your image in unlikely spaces
Running through endless encounters in my mind
Even registered on shards of transparent glass
It struck me as being unobtrusively naive
Could wild longings put one off tangent
Perhaps but it ran counter to reality
I was pretty sure you were there
Looking and observing but nothing behind me
What could it be
Where could you be

I felt mystified
You might not show it
I know you were triumphantly smiling!

  1. A delightful piece Hank.
The female of the species is always testing, elusive and sometimes just out of reach.

You got a lot of that in your poem.
    Cheers, Ed
