glittering pride to be on one's own

11 of 12 given words:
falter under wreath frost hibernate, caves
rejected whispering, breath mirage glittering

to falter under a wreath of frost
a mistake to be wandering in the cold
better to hibernate in caves, even though lost
a rejected psyche soul but still able to hold

a guarded but whispering breath
to exhibit the dignity of old age shown
under a mirage of confidence, a wealth
of glittering pride to be on one's own

  1. "a wreath of frost" & "a mirage of confidence" are the two most precious images in the poem. I also agree what you say in the title :)

  2. Even the cold can't take away the pride, but finding a place to hibernate may not be so bad.

  3. I see both sides in your images: the danger and the pride. I relate to this poem so much! And then, it makes me think of my parents--at 92 and 93--still insisting on being on their own. May they live as free as they wish forever, strong souls in aged bodies.

  6. "exhibit the dignity of old age..." this is a beautiful line, and surely the soul cannot feel rejected. Brilliant write!

  7. You are getting so good at these, Hank. Isn't pride one of the seven sins? Lol! Great poem! Big hug!

  9. Too many of us, I'm afraid, are well acquainted with that "mirage of confidence."
