He lined up his hopes of making a getaway
To be marooned on this island prison doing
nothing was a sure sign of a defeatist's attitude
Only Alcatraz had that unsavory reputation
to deny him the freedom so precious
What seemed to be a raw deal was to be
addressed as he was just a small fry
His bosses got away scot-free leaving him
to face the rap languishing in jail alone
Unfinished business in the offing so he
decided and he was unstoppable
When the sky had darkened with streams
of menacing red colors he would swing
into action - to fill the cravings to be free and
to right the wrong he so desperately yearned

I remember seiing Alcatraz whilst visiting SanFransico a few years ago. Most impressive to see as is your verse.

ReplyDeleteWaiting for the second half of the story. But perhaps you stopped it while there was still hope? I never know whether to wish revenge will succeed or not.

ReplyDeleteSeeing him dive in the water my immediate thought was the film "Papillon" which I preferred to "The birdman of Alcatraz".
