Image: Been through so many minds (here)
Not given a ghost of a chance
How so cruel this world that fits the bill
Elusive in its make-up more just in passing
Scant attention is all it gets
Much to the consternation of those
who in the background sacrificed
time and money

Kim's at d'Verse's Quadrille #26
and to include the word - ghost
Sounds like the books we right, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteAll comes back to dough for many and then they don't have much in the end.
ReplyDeleteWell composed. "Ghost" is right.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a strong and tightly knit poem! Kudos ❤️
ReplyDeleteA lot of thought in this
ReplyDeleteIt is cruel to those who have spent time and money and made big sacrifices ~
ReplyDelete"give peace a chance & "can't we all just get along?" song lyrics echoing under freeway bridges & alleys in ghettos & war zones. Peace is fleeting, illusive, like joy, but pain & loss stick to our bones & soul like scars from a house fire.
ReplyDeleteElusive in its make-up more just in passing
ReplyDeleteHank, life sometimes is hard to understand it's like trying to find that elusive blue rose...so hard to get the dream one deserves at times.
Scant attention - so true, Hank.
ReplyDeleteSo scant, but hopefully they feel that they have done well.
ReplyDeleteSo much truth in so few words, Hank. Cruel world - scant attention - not a ghost of a chance.
ReplyDeleteMy mind keeps coming back to "those
ReplyDeletewho in the background sacrificed
time and money".
Truth. Not a Ghost.....
ReplyDeleteYes, this world can be carelessly cruel.
