Go blaze the trail
The young are bent on getting there
Go blaze the trail
No stopping when young hearts declare
Struck with a challenge seems all fair
Yes! It is more than just a dare
Go blaze the trail
Go blaze the trail
Go blast your way for all you care
Go blaze the trail
Sure! Fault the saying ‘it is there!’
Just go provoke a tiger’s lair
Feeling great as you are aware
Go blaze the trail
Written for Tony’s hosting at d’Verse Forms For All - a rondelet
ha. might want to watch poking that tiger too hard...he's got claws...but i def like the challenge to go blaze that trail...well done to form hank...
ReplyDeleteIn the first "go blaze the trail" seemed very encouraging, but then in the second the same phrase sounded more like the narrator was abandoning them to their own foolishness. Sounds like my Dad.
ReplyDeleteIndeed each generation of young has to blaze their own trail in their own way!!
ReplyDeleteIt's full of vigour and a sense of derring-do!
ReplyDeleteI particularly love the refrain in these - it moves the poem forward each time.
ReplyDeleteAnother great poem in response to the prompt; the refrain is brilliant and gives a very active feel to the poem, Hank. Strictly speaking line 4 of each stanza should rhyme with the refrain, but forms are made to be adapted to our needs, not vice versa.
ReplyDeleteThoughtful

ReplyDeleteSuperb. The whole thing works wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteGood work on the double rondolet Hank ~
ReplyDeleteThe refrain - Go blaze the trail - gives it a nice beat ~
a trail we all want to go on at some point or another
ReplyDeleteSuch a trail may end up in a fail or you just never know, unless you give it a go
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that you enjoyed it so much, you doubled it up!
ReplyDeleteThis was so upbeat - truly enjoyable!
the blaze the trail refrain has something of a clarion call..well done hank
ReplyDeleteA great call to the wilds of our hearts.
ReplyDelete...double treat... double fun... you rock Hank... aww... smiles... it seems there's no difficult form at your lair... adorable ability...
ReplyDeleteVery nice! It is like the captain's exhortation before a great fight. :-)
