Vying for office?
Get political support
A costly affair
It is apparent
Big business make their presence
They throw in their weight
Candidates are rich
Millions at their disposal
But in poor countries
Candidates are poor
They hope for
public office
Themselves to enrich
Note: The difference between politics in a rich country
to that of a poor country. In a rich country
the candidates make money then go into politics. In a poor country the
candidates go into office and then make money. Just a simplistic jab not referring to any country or any one in particular.
Written for Haiku Heights #150 with prompt - support-
Our politicians are the best that money can buy.
ReplyDeleteunique 'take' on prompt word ~ well crafted haiku ~ thanks, ^_^ (A Creative Harbor)
ReplyDeleteDepressing fact but true.
ReplyDeleteTroubling but true.....great job creating an unbiased statement in haiku form
ReplyDeleteYep all about their own pocket book each time, sad.
ReplyDeletei think it might be better if our political candidates did not have the money or the ties to big business so our politics could not be bought...
ReplyDeleteLots of labyrinths, little truth, all sides.~Mary
ReplyDeleteTrue...but the poor needs money to go into politics and quickly learn to do the business on the side..its a never ending circle ~
ReplyDeleteI think I shall stay away from politics.. I don't have the purse to enter it, or support it too. ;)

ReplyDeleteIt's a vicious circle. Sad but unfortunately, true.
ReplyDeleteI like your different interpretations of the inspirational word. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteHank, you nailed it. In Wisconsin, we have the worst governor the Koch Brothers could buy, and he survived the recall. CLEAN MONEY, CLEAN ELECTIONS. Thanks, Supreme Court, for pretending corporations are people. With souls and everything, yeah, right. A great distinction about moneyed vs. poverty-ridden countries. Never thought of that before. Excellent write, my friend! Amy
ReplyDeleteLoved the way you took this prompt! Very interesting concept revolving around politics!
ReplyDeleteQuest of the unknown.
It's at peak in our country, rage outrage promptly put!
ReplyDeleteCorrupt politics? Tautology.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't go believing that politicians don't make money out of their 'jobs' - even in rich(ish) countries like Britain. Gravy train describes it well.
Nice take on real life! Support really has a lot of meaning! Great job :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting take on the prompt. It's a pity money has everything to do with politics.
ReplyDeleteInteresting take and direction for this one ... I am sure it hits home ... I try to stay out of political debates as "everyone thinks they are right!"
ReplyDeleteReassuring
Political stuff is not my thing bur you did a great job explaining it. Nice work.

Sad, but true: Many politicians buy their offices these days.
