L for the Little Mermaid

In the depths of the sea,

Lived a little mermaid,

She longed to explore,

The world up above,

To dance in the sunlight,

And feel the warmth of love.

One day she watched from afar,

As a ship drew near,

And she knew in her heart,

She had nothing to fear.

She swam to the surface,

And walked on the shore,

For the life she had thought,

She could choose to explore

But she couldn't get

The love that she sought.

So she decided to return

To her life at sea,

Accompanied by pangs of loneliness 

But she knew she was free.
