When growing up through the years
Life had been forgiving
Now more towards
challenging times
Opening up to old age
Health-wise afflictions
slowly creep in,on the quiet
but progressively
Testing times on hold
or arrested wholly, lucky me
Work or at play one takes
the middle road
Thankful for the morrow
That offers so much for those
who strive at their own pace

I does seem, looking back, how much more forgiving life is to the young! Taking the middle road seems a wise choice. Sometimes though, we are forced onto roads we wouldn't have turned onto voluntarily.
ReplyDeleteI really love the word "morrow" and the whole last stanza!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of striving at one's own pace!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that age thing starts to play a number on one's body...
ReplyDeletePerhaps over time, and through necessity, we at least do a better job of making lemonade out of lemons. :)
