fragments of his memories*
old habits die hard
scalded in his thoughts for another
need we go far to take a peek
when chips were down breathe easy

he stood there thinking
why was he there 
the day he left the premises after his last paper
nature awakened with harrowing scenes
it had finally come to a boil

decidedly depressed
