the 10 of 12 given words:
wind, extreme, together, feather, dust, voice, seasons, carry, scream, back
the winds of change
extreme at times
but put together
it is an experience
birds of a feather
biting the dust
merry-making in a loud voice
a welcomed change nonetheless
seasons change
but to carry-on as usual
is a love affair
enjoy one's freedom
it is a scream upon looking back
such is life in the fast lane

I'll admit, I've never been a fast lane guy. Unless it's literal!
ReplyDeleteSeasons change and so do the winds. Today, life seems to move at a slow pace.
ReplyDeleteWonderful words Hank. enjoyed the read.Life though is certainly slower at present.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
The winds of change have much to teach us...life in the fast lane is fun, but also nice to have time to pause, reflect, and write!

ReplyDeleteHank, this is absolutely beautiful. I read it twice just to not let it only dance again in my mind's eye, but also in an attempt to thoroughly absorb the meaning. While a time to reflect carefully in new years to come, I see something darker in this too:
ReplyDelete"birds of a feather
biting the dust"
Dropping people we no longer need and who we don't get along with anymore and letting this new step direct how you proceed on with the new year, love the message here. Cut the ties! :) I like how it takes a darker root in that, and it's positive too in that way. We don't need anyone holding us back, especially in these times when we don't know what's going to happen anymore.
I also loved these lines:
"but to carry-on as usual
is a love affair"
I feel like that's so apt for these times. There's that old sense of normalcy (whatever it was) gone, and to pretend that everything is as it always was is just like a love affair. That passion, that delusion in something that won't or can't last is in this belief in doing business as usual. Love the layers in this piece, it's quite clever and it's always an experience reading you, Hank.
Hope you're having a great start of the new year!
Amen to that... Thanks for this powerful and joyful crie de coeur
ReplyDeleteEild ride Hank! Love your reachin’ high for a great OLN, bravo my friend! 🙂✌🏼❤️
ReplyDeleteTruly insightful piece. This made me pause..."but to carry-on as usual is a love affair". Sometimes we cannot and that's ok too.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Whatever you do, stay in that lane! JIM
