Image: Smiling Snowman of old (here)
Often dark tunnel like where no sun rays dared encroach
pitch black took upon itself to deny movements leaving
all agog. Imaginations run wild Apparitions in the shadows
prancing low as they often do Eerie when visions are
affected. Venture not, must stop. Cold and wet Winter's
sneaking in.
Unlike through the years not too long ago. Seen the many
versions of snowmen ever smiling a warm scarf around
its neck taking on all the pot-shots of snowballs thrown
leisurely by young boys and girls.
Not any more. No more boys and girls They are snug on
warm cushion seats. They do not fancy wasting their time
outdoors but rather are busy twitching and clicking on
their respective devices
Let me see the sun
Where is it in abundance?
Down south nice and warm
Frank's at d'Verse: Haibun Monday winter
Sad commentary, but all too true in this modern world Hank. Poignant write.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad Hank that kids are missing out on real adventures as they are tuned into those devices. Looking at photos of nature instead of going outside and experiencing nature. sigh..
ReplyDeleteSuperbly described, but also real statements made, and valuable ones...it does feel as something has been lost, has gone.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your reveries, Hank. Someplace south, where it is warm, sounds pretty good right now.

ReplyDeleteThis is so true... and... I must admit, Hank, that I'm like that too, and I'm in my 40's!
-David
So true. Granted I was mostly an indoor kid, but the ones today never see the sun.
ReplyDeleteAh times change, interest peak in new directions.
ReplyDeleteNice haibun
Much love...
We've had no snow..... yet only sunshine these past few days and quite warm. Loved your verse Hank.
ReplyDeleteYake care.
Yvonne.
Love your haibun, Hank! Those kids are definitely missing something wonderful.
