intimidating on what the future holds

Image: The moon as clear as it gets (here)

Reflecting on:
'what if the moon disappeared tomorrow?'

shocking waves of wonder
intimidating on what the future holds
fears swirling across all asunder
as wide as the universe to unfold

can man on the moon find a transit
an abode to smile from and muse
where will the owl pine all of his wit
a let down on young lovers of such abuse

perhaps a lot of seriousness on others
targeting other planets to quench the thirst
a race to colonize Mars the first bother
to perfect time travel a reality first

  1. This was a fun read, Hank. I too would worry about the (young) lovers finding their moods but more so yet the poor "man on the moon find(ing)" himself some new resting place. For sure he would miss a showplace like the moon affords.

  2. The loss would certainly be chaos for all. So many and so much would feel lost without the pull. And like your poem suggests, at the end, it would probably start a search... for something else.

  3. No moon, no ocean. A very sad missing of the tides.

  4. I think we are all afraid of what the future has to hold these days, Hank, more than ever before. I hope the man in the moon won’t be pulled into oblivion with humankind.

  5. You bring to life the chaos on a personal, emotional, collective, and technological levels all together into this fantastical miasma.
I really liked this bit: "an abode to smile from and muse/where will the owl pine all of his wit/a let down on young lovers of such abuse".

  13. Oh what a moon frenzy we'd find ourselves in if it disappeared.
