symbolic tendency unhinged
Trudging along in the woodlands
In fading twilight wandering aimlessly
Counting his blessings his passion waned
Finding himself alone he is driven to the edge
Drifting along away from his lover
Wheeling in a pool of craziness
There is a tendency to vie for lighter moments
of laughter and fun used to before
But not to be for he had unhinged himself
No more conversations
No more intellectual discourse
No more fair exchange of ideas
No more review of success
Just disquiet symbolic of
paralysis and incapacity of mind
Not unlike dementia or writer's block
But loss of mood plain and simple
Loss of directions
Hoping it is temporary!

Yes, one hopes it is temporary and it usually is. Well described, Hank.

Thinking about this insightful comparison. Wow.

My goodness, I hope that is temporary. Excellent response to the prompt, Hank :)
Loss of direction on many levels can be rough. Great write Hank!
ReplyDeleteamid such a state veils a vision of any change...such a difficult state of being.
ReplyDeleteTemporary is sure the hope, take writer's block over dementia
ReplyDeleteI hope its temporary too
ReplyDeleteThe expression which jumps out at me from this (enjoyable) poem is "loss of mood"... 'mood' is like weather. And when there's no weather at all to speak of, well... what am I trying to say? Just a thought-provoking expression I guess. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, hopefully it will be a temporary thing.
ReplyDeleteYou put into words so well how the mind can be "paralysed" and how we can get lost and loose direction. I think we all experience that sometimes as long as you don't get completely lost
ReplyDeleteThe word "disquiet" in your poem is a linch pin and a great play on the word/meaning, given what has preceded it and what follows. Really enjoyed this poem!
